Cit Meat Market-Giddings (also posted on austin.food)

After having passed by this place a bunch of times, I
stopped in today
on the way back from Houston (with a load of Saint Arnold
Root Beer!),
and let me tell you, this place deserves to be mentioned
when talking
about great BBQ! It has everything you could want in a BBQ
joint:
atmosphere; it's old; served on paper; lots of locals; and
of course
there's the meat. One good thing is that you can order
however
much/little you want(I ordered two slices of brisket, two
ribs-small end
of course), and some onions & bread, and it was all good.
The brisket,
while it 'appeared' to be dry, was very tender without
being greasy, and
the ribs were FOB, and quite spicy, as it was the small
end. One of my
favorite features is the sauce on the tables (quite
separated-vinegar
with the seasonings on the bottom) are in either Weller or
Boone's Farm
bottles with holes in the cap for drizzling on the meat
(make sure you
put your thumb over the top before shaking it up!) A very
nice,
peppery/vinegar BBQ sauce, which does not NEED to go on the
meat, but it
is yummy. By 11:30 the chicken was all gone. :(
This is the best BBQ between here & Houston that I have
found. After
eating this, any of the Mikeskas should be looking for the
shower rod.
