Cioppino with Salmon...?

We finally moved back to a place with good fresh seafood & plan to try making a batch of cioppino. Most recipes I checked call for white, non-oily fish, but 2 (of 12-15 in all) said salmon could be used too.

What's the verdict from those who've tried? Can some salmon be added to the haddock, cod, &c?
