I followed up on the recommendations for Cina in Astoria and was very pleased. I found the decor to be very attractive and tranquil. The service was very attentive and helpful. We had the lunch special, I had the chicken soup (a cold and rainy day) and my companion had the endive salad for apps. The chicken soup was definitely like Mom's but could have been a little more full-bodied. The beef stew with sausages and bacon was delish, as was the polenta ball with sour cream, sausage, and feta cheese (recommended by waitress). This is definitely a menu for meat eaters.
We shared the crepe dessert. The cottage cheese topping was an interesting change (My Mom made palacinta with the cottage cheese on the inside).
The coffee was above average, as was the bread.
All this, with wine for about $30, well worth it.
I have to go back for the stuffed cabbage.
