Last night, strolling along Smith, eating my tasti d lite, paused to peruse the menu of this new shop. Next thing I know, very amiable owner opens the dooor and asks me to come in and take a look. Now, I was reluctant to enter because I was really a mess; we're talking post-workout, shorts, sneakers, hoody and baseball cap, tasti dripping down my arm. But he was so hospitable and enthusiastic, I had to come in for the tour. It is beautiful! The back garden, which can be seen from the street is lovely and HUGE. There is a dining bar overlooking the open kitchen and behind it a beautiful table, smack in the center of the interior dining room for large groups. After the tour, I somehow ended up at the [regular] bar, with a glass of wine in my hand (complimentary). No list yet as they are still creating the wine program.
As I write this I am realizing I have really nothing to say about the food. Didn't eat. Menu is heavy on pasta, panini, salads, some crudo I think. Not too many entrees. Great bowl of mussels trotted by. Servings look big. Price points low - those mussels were an app at $6.95 I think. Nothing topped $13 if I recall correctly.
This team is sure working to win over the neighborhood and of course I intend to try it and write again soon.
