Something new to me, ciambellone Genovese is sold here either in the whole giant round loaf (nearly 2' wide) or sliced into wedges for $9ish per pound wrapped in plastic on the counter. I picked up a smallish piece for less than three bucks to try. Somewhere between bread and cake in texture, this is denser and heavier than panettone yet sharing the same eggy richness. Chockful of raisins and candied citron, it was lovely warmed up a bit in the toaster oven. The firm crust had a light dusting of sugar. The best raisin bread I've ever had.
Fwiw, Traverso's has foccacia from SF's Liguria bakery on the counter too.
