Chubo on Clinton St: what a great place

Had a really nice meal at Chubo on the Lower East Side (6 Clinton St.) Plenty of tables avaialble. It's a prix fixe menus: $24 for app, entree and dessert; $20 without the dessert. The menu's sorta Asian influenced I had thyme roasted hake and an oat crusted smoke salmon cake. Great. My sidekick had grilled salmon that was really flavorful. Very nice scene and vibe. Friendly service. Definitely a nice, moderately-priced option.

But somebody explain to me the addresses. Why do the address numbers go *up* as you go south on Clinton St.
Chubo, at 6 Clinton, is right near Houston. 71 Clinton, however, is toward Delancey St...
