I will be arriving in Paris on Christmas Day and staying for five nights. In my attempts to make reservations I have come acroos a number of restaurants that will either be closed for the entire week, have yet to decide on closure or will be offering limited menus.
1) Le Chateaubriand - They have waffled back and forth a bit but as of last contact they confirmed that the would be closed the entire week between Christmas and New Year's. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed true?
2) Chez L'Ami Jean - They will be closed through January 3rd.
3) Le Baratin - They said to call back the week before arrival as they will be making a last minute decision on whether or not to stay open.
4) Le Comptoir - The willbe open non-stop form Noon to 11 PM. No reservations and serving a bistrot formule menu only.
Now to my questions. Can anyone recommend a good spot for Christmas dinner? Additionally, can anyone recommend spots that are sure to be open suring the week? More specifically, I am looking for places that are chef/market driven and that offer a more casual/convivial setting. I've got a long list of potential places and most are in the vain of the above mentioned but I know I am missing places that have been open for four years or so and as such not receiving as much publicity form the press.
Any suggestions for favorite wine bars that willbe open would be much appreciated as well.
