Eight Chowhounds got together for a Columbus Day lunch at Sichuan Jin River in Rockville, MD. Some favorite dishes are still the same. But we wound up ordering way too many meat dishes. We got a little bit crazy.
Old time favorites: double cooked pork with crispy bread, minced chicken ya-cai and lotus root salad. These are all so good. Worth a journey.

fungus with pickled peppers
spicy pickled vegetables
Sour and spicy foon
brisket with rice cakes
duck with konjac
short ribs with dried bean curd (special)
ma po tofu
The foon (glass noodles) and the brisket with rice cakes had a heavy Korean influence. The rice cakes were in a particularly addictive gravy. I would get that dish again.
The others dishes were ok, but we got overwhelmed with gravy and more meat. Next time, need to order more dry dishes....
