Chowing Along The Mid Jones Street Corridor - Tidbit of sorts

Sukhumuit - A typical 'hole in the wall' thai eatery joint in the heart of TenderLand

I have been going to this small and dingy thai place on Jones between O'Farrel and Geary for about a year now ever since it opened a year (maybe two , or three) ago . Service has always been very friendly . Food has been nothing special - the normal type thai food - pad thai and what have you ; Salmon over rice , etc . Oh yes - Mango Icecream and Mango on sticky rice which are some of my favorites - yummy ! Ever since the grand opening of the Chutney - a relatively chic indian eatery joint - next door about a year ( maybe less ) ago , Sukhumuit has been getting less and less customers by the week . Several weeks ago , I noticed it has not been opened . Every night I walked by , the lights inside stayed dark

Tonight , as I walked by this place , I saw the inside of this place has been emptied of tables and chairs ... looks like it is gone for good . Having eaten at this thai eatery joint in the middle of this 'happening' mid Jones street corridor about 20 times or so during the past year or two , I am a bit sad to see this place go . I feel like I have just lost a very good friend ...

I will always treasure the friendly service that I've received from the cute thai waitress working there at nights , and the cooks and all the other very warm thai people who have cooked and waited and served me there.
