Chowhounding in 'greater London' - i.e. Surbiton & environs

magnolia | Nov 29, 200004:26 AM     8

I'm helping a friend paint his house (inside, thank you very much) this weekend and will be rewarded with dinner.

Here's my chance to do some chowhounding in what I'd refer to as 'the burbs'.

Simon, Howler & others - Any tips on places to which you've already been - or have heard of and want someone else to check out -- in Surbiton (near Kingston) or within easy driving distance? By no means does it have to be elegant - in fact I may be covered with paint.

PS No snotty comments about Surbiton & surrounds being a culinary wasteland...I think the West End is for the most part a culinary wasteland! Chowhoundy places are to be found everywhere...almost
