i've been neglectful in posting, but wanted to let you know that the "call to eat" and all that entailed, along with grand mention of chowhound.com and all it stands for, took up nearly the entire page (41) of this months food and wine.
there is a 2x2 logo at the top of the page and the article is entitled . "a dog-eat-dog world".
it begins by describing jim's call to regulars to check in after the horrific events of sept. 11 and goes on to talk about the "call to eat" and the heated debate that call became, ending finally with jim's decision to ban all further political discussion on the site.
it ends with the thought of how fascinating it is to see people of one common thought in food be torn by the opinions they have about things they don't have in common.
although i felt the writer left much to be desired in describing exactly what chowhound is and what purpose it serves it's community i was at least glad to see it published in a national magazine, especially in this time of financial troubles. hopefully it will spark some new interest and with it an influx of desperately needed cash.
and if you haven't yet donated, subscribed or shopped, please do. this site is far to valuable to see it slip away.
