Had dinner over the weekend at Chowhound Cafe in Germantown, NY. It's an asset to the gap that existed between Hudson and Red Hook/Rhinebeck. The place is reminiscent of Julia and Isabella -- looks like a roadhouse from the front; inside, red and cream color with works from a local artist as decor; nice bar. Dinner: good creamy corn and vegetable soup; entree of stuffed chicken breast with sausage and gorgonzola, fresh vegetables, rice (all very good); dessert of amaretto chocolate cake (dry and undistinguished); respectable coffee. Since I'd had no lunch and opted for the early dinner instead of late lunch, this was a bargain at $12.95. I want to try it for lunch. There's a website for menus.
