please join me and other chowhounds(and chowists) at the 'tasting room', monday, june 14 at 6pm. 'the tasting room' is a
beautiful loft above the randolph st. wine cellars. its one of my favorite spaces in
the city filled with leather couches, overstuffed armchairs, coffee tables and a
breathtaking view of the michigan ave. skyline at night. its not exactly a restaurant
but its definitely more than a bar. for the first few years of its existence the only
foods offered were platters of cheese or sausage. they've expanded to a simple
menu of small plates, including a very good individual thin crust pizza. the good
news is that monday night is half- price- wine- by- the- glass- night, which is why
i'm suggesting we meet then. (bottles are still full price).
i've posted on this place before and if anyone can link to earlier posts about it,
mine or other peoples', i'd appreciate it.
i always find the tasting room to be a very relaxing place to hang out. i think it
makes an ideal gathering spot, as we can mingle freely, order as much
or as little food and wine as we want: share a bottle of wine, or order a glass;
share a platter of cheeses or order a mini sandwich. i look forward to some new
faces (and always appreciate the 'old' ones). i hope i've piqued some interest, this
place is really a jewel. please RSVP me by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by sunday,
june 13. the manager will reserve a section of the room for us if we have a large
group coming. see you there, joan
