Please join me for a very special banquet at Louie's California Chinese on Saturday, April 2nd at 6pm. The menu has been designed to highlight the chef's strengths and will be absolutely fantastic. There is no limit to how many tables we can have at this time, but I can only confirm seats if we can fill tables of 10. The menu will include old favorites like the smoked sea bass oft discussed with glee on this board, as well as other lesser known delicacies. Topping it
off will be a Thousand Layer Cake. I tried the chef's rendition when we were planning the menu and it was one of the best I've ever had. We welcome you to bring wine to share with the group. The cost of this
10-course meal will be $46 per person which includes corkage and a donation to Chowhound.
This banquet will also be in honor of Mabel Yim (a.k.a. Mrs. Yimster) as Louie's was one of her favorite restaurants. Yimster helped construct
the menu along with the chef and we had hoped that we could have all shared this meal together. Yimster also added that the manager who used to read Chowhound no longer works there. In other words, we won't be getting anything that isn't accessible to all.
I've attached a link to a post from Joel Teller's dinner last November.
Please e-mail me directly if you'd like to attend. Hope to see many of you there!
