Chowdown Brunch Review: Patio Espanol

michele_corum | Nov 8, 201506:26 PM     9

9 Chowhounds met at Patio Espanol today for Sunday Brunch.

The Patio Español Restaurant is located within the Unión Española de California on Alemany Blvd in San Francisco. The Unión Española was founded as a non-profit corporation in 1923, and the current Cultural Center on Alemany Boulevard was opened in 1985.

Sunday Brunch is served as a buffet featuring Spanish tapas, homemade soup, salads, various main dishes and one of their many house paellas. Also included is a dessert table with 6 or 7 choices (many non-chocolate for those less inclined). The meal was $33/per person including tax tip, bottomless mimosas, champagne, coffee, tea.

Their homey recipes were not fancy but well balanced and very delicious. Ample seafood abound in the paella and seafood salads. The soup of the day was chicken mushroom. Very excellent and not loaded with salt.

And it was so good to see some of my Chowhound friends after a long absence!
