The first social studies unit that I teach my second graders every year is Mexican Culture. In the past when it came to food I've done things like make tortillas in class using masa or bake pan de muertos when the unit coincided with the holiday. This coming fall I'd like to give the kids a richer experience.

The idea is to take a field trip to a Mexican restaurant where they would have lunch and hear a talk by the owner about the ingredients, how the cuisine differs from region to region, etc.

The catch: The restaurant would need to be able to accomodate 25-30 kids plus several chaperones. Perhaps via a private room or by opening a bit earlier.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for appropriate establishments, as I'd like to get to work contacting people now for next fall.
