There's a wonderful little store-front chocolate and coffee shop on Wilshire in WLA near the SM city limits, close to Literati (ycch) and Amandine (yum!). Link is below; it's called Chocolatt. It's run by a lovely Belgium gentleman, Dad, chocolate connoisseur, obviously trying to make it. He's involved with local politics and eager to please or offer what you like. He serves hot chocolate that looks and is puported to be wonderful, thick, creamy, and is visibly laden with whipped cream (unfortunately!). The place first came to my attention as purveyor of quintessential chocolate croissants, that he actually imports, frozen, from France. This was, to tell the truth, a little beyond the pale for me so I settled instead on some delicious, locally produced homemade ice cream. It is probably the best I've had in LA (which, sadly, isn't saying much), and cheap, too! (3 scoops in a bowl for $1.50). Now I'm hungry.
They make their own chocolates there and a large case is filled with dozens of beautiful molded pieces. The coffee is purported to be good but although I've been three times now, I just can never get past that beckoning ice cream. I wish someone would go and review the hot chocolate and coffee!
