Chocolate Florentines at Modern Pastry

Last week Galley Girl was kind enough to take me to the holy trinity of North End Bakeries: Mikes, Marias and Modern Pastry. I did a quick CH search before going and found Striperguy's rec for the chocolate florentines at Modern. Thank god. This is exactly what I love about Chowhound. I never would've known that they were there, Modern has a bunch of trays all covered with plastic thats practically hiding all the goodies that they have.

So I asked for a 1/2 lb (I know, I know I'm kicking myself for not getting 5 lbs now) and Jiminy Christmas, I've never seen such a beautiful specimen. Just looking at them you know this florentine is in a whole other league than the other puny florentines. How did they taste? Well I can tell you they lasted about an hour in the car ride up to Montreal. Chocolately, buttery, choc-full of nuts. Just incredible.

Anyway, SG, I owe ya. If you're ever in NYC I'll hook you up with some great eats.
