Restaurants & Bars 6

I thought I would give a chocolate update to liven up dreary January.

Last year I highly recommended the Blanxart dark organic chocolate. I’m sad to say I have not been as impressed with the last few bars of this that I have purchased. Hopefully in the future the quality will increase again.

I still love Pocco Dolce.

I have a new favorite: TCHO Dark Chocolate Ghana. African chocolate tends to have distinctive fruity notes and to me tastes different than other chocolate. In the past I have enjoyed various Michel Cluizel African chocolates although it’s been a while since I have had a Cluizel bar. The TCHO Ghana is good example of how complex and atypical African chocolate can be: Smoothly melts in your mouth. At first the flavor is very slightly nutty but develops into velvety cocoa flavor that envelops your tongue. The long finish has a slight burst of subtle berry-fruit flavor and espresso. Really good and also really different.
