Chipotle was the first chain restaurant to let customers know what was GMO on the menu. Has now attempted to make its menu GMO free. Hope more restaurants give its customers more healthy options with information to make informed food decisions.
Wish we had better GMO labeling in our stores and other restaurants in the United States. One example, did you know most distilled white vinegar is made of GMO RoundUp-ready corn? Or that most vegetable oil is made of GMO RoundUp-ready soybeans? Hard for consumers to know where the GMO is in our USA food supply. Unfortunately, it is everywhere we turn... *Grumble*
One step at a time in the right direction - As mentioned in the video at the link, feed for animals is still mostly GMO (often included in the mix is some kind of RoundUp-ready: corn, soy, alfalfa, etc.). Including beef, chicken, pork, farmed salmon, turkey, etc. Meat raised in tight pens is also hit with antibiotics and hormones. The meat in our 'regular supply' in stores and restaurants is not as good for us as meat was for our grandparents - even if raised on grass. In time as more customers vote with their dollars maybe things can go back to being more natural in the restaurants and stores in America. Still the majority doesn't care or is uniformed so questionable products are sold everywhere in the USA. Here is a two minute video presentation with interesting facts about meat: https://www.facebook.com/BuzzFeedVide... (no need to log into Facebook or even have a Facebook account to watch it).
A step in the right direction for those who care. Hip Hip, Hooray for Chipotle!
