Any suggestions for Chinese in Winnipeg? I'm not so much looking at Canadian-style Chinese (4 Seasons, Shaing Bo, Evergreen), but "real" Chinese food (i.e. the type of Chinese food you'd find Chinese immigrants eating).
Kum Koon--haven't had anything but dim sum here in years--anyone have any experience with non-dim sum menu items?
Dim Sum Garden--used to be good, but I don't know about now. The south-end one has had some problems with food, and the central one has had other problems, but has anyone tried the non-dim sum items here recently?
Sun Fortune--always a safe bet
North Garden--I will never again set foot in this restaurant, but when I did go there, I thought the quality was declining (very tough meat in a couple of items, for example, and as for their dim sum, the fried items were very greasy--I think they did not change their oil frequently enough). And the service bites (they took our order then ignored us for 40 minutes, then we question them only to find they had forgotten to punch in our order--needless to say, we walked out). It's a shame, because pre-expansion, they used to be comparable to Sun Fortune
Is there a Sichuan restaurant in Winnipeg? There used to be one on Pembina with Szechuan in its name, but the food wasn't particularly Sichuan.
Any Hunan-style Chinese food in town?
