I, and six others, went to the Chinese New Year's buffet at East last night. We had reservations for 7:00 and were forewarned that we would have to wait a half hour before being seated. It proved true. The food including some extra dishes like shark's fin soup was as good as any non buffet style restaurant in these environs. Soups, sushi, dim sum, peking duck, chicken satay on a skewer, shrimp wrapped in bean curd skins, lobster with ginger and scallions, plus other dishes and desserts too numerous to mention make this meal an embarrassment of riches. The sole problem being that one tends to gorge oneself and winds up with discomfort. If you know your limits, it certainly is a find. The cost is $25.99 for Sunday, $5.00 less for Monday and Tuesday when, I believe, this special banquet will end and the regular buffet will resume. Incidentally, for skeptics, I am not associated with this restaurant except as an occasional diner. For those unable to conveniently reach Huntington, you might inquire at their branch at Main St. in Flushing.
