Chinese or Viet restaurant for large group in Milpitas/East San Jose?

Alice Ringer | May 24, 2004 08:12 PM

My parents and siblings are coming to town, and they've asked me to choose a restaurant for dinner with some relatives on Memorial Day (next monday). Here are the criteria:

Must be in Milpitas or East San Jose (elder relatives not willing to drive further than that).

Clean looking Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant (will consider other Asian).

Can seat our group of 10-16 people with no reservations, or willing to reserve 2 banquet tables even if we end up using only 1 (unfortunately, I have no control or knowledge beforehand of how many are coming).

My mom has a boycott on Vung Tau after repeated bad service there (she also thinks VT1 is not clean, and can't be convinced VT2 and VT3 are better). Otherwise, I'm open to all suggestions. I've been to plenty small casual places in this area, but don't have any experience in "large group" type places. Searching the site got me thinking Mayflower and Anh Hong, but I've only been to Dim Sum in the former and never been to the latter, so would also like any comments on either of those places.
