New Chinese Vegetarian in Reseda

Chandavkl | Aug 26, 2003 03:50 PM

A new Chinese vegetarian restaurant, Garden Wok, has opened up at 6117 Reseda Bl., the site of numerous Chinese restaurants before it. Garden Wok is typical of the Chinese vegetarian restaurants found in the San Gabriel valley, with mock meat dishes made from soy or gluten, as well as traditional pure vegetarian Chinese fare. I had the bean thread with fake pork, which was comparable to what I've had in the San Gabriel valley. I am puzzled, though, by the opening of this restaurant at this location. With the San Fernando Valley largely a wasteland when it comes to Chinese food, it is surprising to find such a specialized type of Chinese restaurant opening up here. I wish them luck, but there was only one other diner when I was in the restaurant at high noon, and I doubt if there is much local demand for veggie squid with celery or veggie smoked fish.
