Saturday I'm to take my parents (grew up in Taiwan), uncle (visiting from Taiwan), and cousin (lives in SJ) to dinner in SF. I'm looking for a very yummy, authentic Asian restaurant that's a good value (not necessarily inexpensive, but worth the money -- if you have Asian parents you know what I mean).
I'm thinking of taking them someplace that's a little bit different than what they'd usually eat. My parents don't get much dim sum in Atlanta so on Saturday we'll go to either Koi Palace or Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae. Sunday I plan on taking them to the Thai Buddhist temple in San Bruno since my dad loves street food.
For dinner on Saturday I have these ideas, but would like to hear your thoughts/suggestions:
* Vietnamese, either Yummy Yummy or PPQ. I haven't been to either of these places, but they've been well reviewed on this board. I'm looking for food like Vung Tau but nicer atmosphere. They'll have problems with the prices at Slanted Door or Thanh Long.
* Burma Super Star. I'm fond of this place but not sure if they will be. However, the location among the shops on Clement will interest my parents. Perhaps there are good places nearby?
* Some super-good Chinese place? Would rather not take them to R&G since will probably cook crab for them the next day
* Indian?? This is a bit iffy since I know many traditional Chinese do not like Indian food
