This is my first posting although I've been following the site for months and systematically checking out restaurants that are favorites.
I want to alert everyone to the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time at New Taste of Asia in Brookline, about a block from Coolidge Corner. They have recently reorganized the menu and have some phenomenal dishes-- some are specials, others are available all the time. For example, their spicy crab is truly phenomenal, superior to any of the sauces that are conventionally paired with this dish in countless restaurants. They have a homemade noodle dish, where the noodles were made an hour before by hand, combined with a luxurious sauce of ground pork and covered with three huge pieces of bok choy. Even more conventional dishes are cooked so expertly it's like you are eating it for the first time-- double cooked pork, chicken with crispy noodles. And, they have the most wonderful oddly shaped dumplings that are like small folded over tacos filled with pork in great tasting fried dough. For desert, there is a special apple in caramel dish which is served piping hot and the pieces are crystallized by dipping them into cold water.
This is a great restaurant that everyone should discover on their own. In so doing, all of us committed to great food can help support it so it survives to give us continued pleasure in the future.
