I have eaten a lot of Chinese food (by my waistline, I would say 20 lbs too much), but surprisingly since I am from NYC, I have not tried most of the major styles. this is what I have left to try, names in parentheses are alternative names or constituent provinces:
Shandong (Jinan and Jiaodong)
Zhejiang (Hanzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing)
Beijing is a local style and not one of the main types, but I include it because it is famous. Any thoughts? No one discussed my appeal for good "Chinese-American," which I think is a style in and of itself (though not a sophisiticated one).
