Arriving at 'Chinese Dumpling House', a very popular eatery inside Commerce Valley, especially amongst the younger Chinese populous. We noticed all 15 tables inside were occupied, with waiting patrons spilling onto the pavement outside. Usually a pretty good sign and reflection of the food quality offered by the establishment inside? But, no! Was I wrong this time?!
The dinner we had was one of the most un-enjoyable, least appealing and nasty meal I had for a long, long time. Dishes, best described as 'disastrous' arriving one after the other. How I wish the punishment would end early and I can pay my bill and leave!
Still hungry, I was so glad I have a Sara Lee Pound Cake I can fall back to, when I got home!
This is one place I will definitely stay away from....especially when the 'GREAT' Northern Dumpling Kitchen is just across the road!
An overly salty and one dimensional ' Cold sliced leg of pork with minced garlic and chili soy '. Compare to the great version at Northern Dumpling Kitchen across in Time Square, this rendition without the presence of any hit chili oil, was simply BAD!
Only acceptable product of the evening. A hot and crispy pancake dish for the beef wrap.
Bland tasting braised beef shank for the wrap with hoi-sin and scallions condiments
This is how an incompetent kitchen managed to destroy my favorite northern stirred fry veggie dish ( eggplant, green peppers, roasted potatoes ).....smothered with a thick, gluey and starchy gravy. Mushy and slimy and oh-so unappealing.
This Satay Beef Ribs with its equally thick and gluey starchy gravy was even worse! The huge ribs were super-tough and inedible even though one could detect from the taste and texture that an abundance amount of meat tenderizer was used in the hope of transforming the meat.
These might be the worst Pot-Stickers in the GTA?! Not only were the bottom lacked crispiness, the wrapper were all watery and slimy. The filling was void of broth and the meat filler a weird tasting sponge that had a hint of SPAM.
