Dried plums, from China (in a chinese package, etc). I had these last night when someone brought these to class. They're unlike typical prunes -- they're harder, denser, less wet, and, as they appear to have been dried in some type of salt and sugar mixture, they're at once savory and sweet. Amazing. The juice reminded me of wine or coffee in its complexity.
So, anyone know what they're called? And clues for south bay grocery stores that might carry them?
