A full review is forthcoming, but I have to offer this preliminary report on our newest Chinese place in the South Bay--too many people are asking for a good place down here.
Loon Wah (on De Anza Blvd. near the 85 intersection) isn't the best Chinese--in fact, I know of a better one in Freemont (Burke disagrees, he prefers Loon Wah), but it's important for Dim Sum, because they serve both a Hong Kong style AND a Mandarin style.
This is the only place I know that serves both styles. The Mandarin tends to be a bit more deep-fried, but there are some gems on both menus, and the price is pretty reasonable. This isn't the place to go for a full, all-out Dim Sum with the porridge and shark fin soup, but the dumplings are excellent and the pickled vegetables crisp and sweet.
