Chinatown Afternoon

hamachihil | Jan 28, 2005 07:44 PM

Had a late lunch at a joint called Sam Wo's in Chinatown today. The food was nothing to look write home about (Beef and Bok Choy Chow Fun- cheap and adequate) but the atmosphere was great. You walk in through the kitchen and up these narrow stairs- dining is on the next two levels and the food comes up in a dumb waiter. I was on the 2nd floor next to the jalousied windows looking out on the street. The tables are old painted wood with marble tops and everyone sits on little wooden stools.

Afterwards I popped over to Golden Gate Bakery for a fresh out of the oven egg custard tart. Heaven.
