Well, I guess it had to happen. After so many fabulous meals, we had a clinker at China Village, my choice for Mother's Day Dinner. Village Special Seafood Noodle Soup, my top favorite, the sort of dish on your list for a Last Meal, tasted off--very little seafood, the broth a little bitter and kind of dish-water-y. Beef Hot Pot was over-cooked (our fault?), not very nuanced broth. One of the kids wanted Kung Pao Chicken, and it wasn't very interesting (but that's been true at C.V. of some of the other standards you'd get at "ordinary" Chinese restaurants around). That said, Lamb dumplings were very good, as was the Sesame Flatbread, and as always, Village Special Lamb. Probably because of Mother's Day, it was more crowded than usual. Maybe that was the problem.
