After having read many positive comments regarding China Glatt I decided to try it while visiting NY. I lived in NY at one point and had never tried it. I am sad to say I was very disappointed. The food was at best mediocre, bordering on close to awful. The wontons in the soup were overcooked and mushy. The fried rice had this odd taste I could not put my finger on. The sauce on the general tso chicken was not very good, and definitely not what I would consider spicy. There was practically no chicken, almost all breading, and of whatever chicken there was a lot of it was not white meat. The chicken with broccoli was a bit bland with an awkward sauce that did not work. We found the portions to be on the small side. The service was terrible. The waiter never cleared off our soup bowls or refilled the water. He came to take our orders, bring our food, and the check. That is all. The rest of the time he was eating. I was also a little annoyed that they added the gratuity automatically despite the fact that their menu said they only do it for parties of 5 or more. We were not 5 people. I don't really think the waiter deserved even the standard tip. I'm not sure what the hype is. I know this is not suppose to be a first class restaurant, but I would not not go there again.
