China China, new Asian Buffet in Santa Clara

Yimster | Oct 2, 200309:59 PM

I was called this week by one of my cooking buddies who does not use a computer otherwise she would be on our board to try a new Chinese/Japanese/Korean Restaurant & Buffet located in Santa Clara. This place is in the old Uno Pizza location at 2570 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, phone 408 261 9000.

We had the Lunch Buffet price at about $10.00.

The Sushi Area was limited but the fish was sliced thicker than most buffets. It was fresh and tasted petty good for a buffet. The selection was petty good (salmon, ahi, hamachi, clam, eel and squid to name a few). I loaded up in this section because I am a closet sushi nut.

The Korean food selection was more limited with just kim chee, BBQ short ribs and clear noodle chow mein. But I am able to overhead the cook that restock the ribs speak Korean so I was not surprised on how well the ribs tasted (the texture was just chewy enough with a good favor). I have not scoped out the menu to see if the have any Korean/Chinese dishes.

Finally the Chinese section:
Shrimp in a Mayo sauce:(walnut prawns without the walnuts) The prawns were a decent size with good texture and favor and they kept refilling it so it was fresh and a lot.

Stir Fry Flounder: Nice size pieces with good flavor for a buffet.

Curry Chicken: Mild curry flavor with tender pieces of chicken.

Sweet and Sour Pork, Ma Po Tufo, Fried Chicken Wings, Mixed Vegetables, Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Steamed Rice, Fresh Fruit and Ice Cream. I did not try these dishes because unlike Chow Fun I do not have a bottomless pit.

But the service was good and the food was restock in a timely manner so that if did not sit too long.

I have always like food cooked to order but sometimes a buffet is a good introduction to new type of foods to expand your knowledge. Well worth a $10.00 investment.

I have been eating out a lot and will be posting more in the next couple of week now that my personal issues have been resolved.
