China Chef Wok & Grill, American Canyon report w/ pics

hhc | Apr 1, 200808:19 PM

We went to China Chef Wok & Grill after a hike in Napa. We got there at 5pm and there was one other table in the empty restaurant.

It looks clean & a nice big room. The menu is huge & they mention having these cuisines which is always kinda scary cuz how can they do them all well? Chinese, Malaysia, Singapore, Thai!

We were a group of 4 and got these dishes:

2 orders of Roti Canai $3.25 ea-It's Malaysian all time favorite, thin layered crispy pancake served w/ curry dipping sauce. They looked not quite right and the pancake was Awesome. Kinda old tasting & not flaky & chewy like they should be. Curry sauce was average. Don't get it!

Hainanese chicken half $9.50-No rice with this order just hacked up steamed chicken served w/ ginger & garlic sauce + chili sauce. Just ok.

Chow Kueh Teow $8.25-Malaysian stir fried noodles w/ shrimp, bean sprouts, & egg in soy sauce. I didn't see any egg, noticed maybe chicken or something else that shouldn't be in the dish. Just ok, not that great.

Pineapple fried rice we got a combo $10.25-looked great w/ rice in the pineapple, but very average to me.

Lamb Rendang $11.95-this probably was the best dish we tried. Lots of lamb in a spicy sauce.

With 2 beers ($3.5 ea) & 1 Lychee Drink (from canned lychee) $3.25 +6 dishes came out to be $60 before tip.

Separate bathrooms on the Left side once you went the place. Women 1 toilet/sink. Credit cards taken.

It's across the street from the Safeway in American Canyon in the Canyon Corners strip mall.
