China Cafe in Novi Michigan

I would describe this meal as the best carry out I have ever had in my life. It was great food and tasted fresh.

First off gone where those soon to be soggy food cardboard boxes and in their place were containers meant to keep your food fresh. The spring rolls where in a bag with foil lining to keep them crisp and since spring rolls are pretty much based on texture for quality they where the absolute best I have ever had in take out.

Every week we go to Novi to see Grandma at the home and almost every week we have Chinese food and this was the first time I had China cafe.... I was so sick of the crap we normally get I got on here and people where talking about it.... so THANK YOU CHOWHOUND GANG!

We ordered Mongolian Beef, the Generals chicken, and chicken chop soey with pork friend rice and egg drop soup. The chicken in the chop soey melted in your mouth. The beef in the mongolian dish tasted amazing and wasn't that fatty crappy beef usually reserved for Chinese beef dishes and the vegetables where still crisp and had flavor that stood up against the spicy pepper sauce served for that dish. The beef was soft and lovely and exploded with juice with no fat or grizzle to be found. The pork fried rice had strips of thinly cut pork instead of those burnt cubes usually reserved for this dish that become dry and tasteless as they sit in a warmer all night and had chunks of fresh corn and other veggies that made the dish look bright and exciting and left you with a slightly smokey flavor in your mouth for a finish. The Generals chicken was not the heavily bread deep fried junk I have had time and time again but instead a lightly batter almost pan fried finish that allowed you to taste that you where still eating a nice piece of chicken with every bite and the egg drop soup was simply the best I have ever had and I make it myself..... so that is saying a ton. It was full of fresh veggies and perfectly starched to a body of amazing soup that was so good my 23 month old daughter held her bowl up 3 times for more.

I will be trying more dishes from them soon enough and can honestly say that I am looking more forward to our Sunday visits to Grandma just for the possibility that she might want Chinese food and I will get to enjoy this.
