Just got home from the Keys and a few days in FLL..2 places I've enjoyed on past visits:
Had dinner Friday night at Chima, a high end Brazilian rodizio..all you can eat salad bar..and waiters bringing skewers of different grilled meats to your table..carved to whatever level of doneness that you prefer. Much higher quality version of this style than I've had elsewhere. Beautiful bar, dining room and patio..with fountains and lanterns. Dinner runs about $43 pp but lunch is only $23..with almost all the same items..I did both..lunch on Sunday. Go hungry..:)
Taverna Opa on Sat night. We took the water taxi (highly recommended)and got there about 8. I have been a fan of this place in the past; but I have normally gotten there much earlier in the evening. This time the place wasa zoo; which I sort of expected but not the extent of it. Went to the maitre d and he said follow me. He led us to within 3 feet of a table that was paying their check and finishing their wine...said loudly, this table will be ready in a few minutes. Now I'm a fan of the maitre d rushing people to finish up in a crowded place...but I don't like to be the "bad guy." We moved back a little; but the damage was down and we were getting dirty looks from the couple. Anyway, we're seated. Waiter was attentive, when he came; but clearly had too many tables to cover. Food was actually very good...Greek salad, grilled octopus, sauteed sweetbreads, and moussaka. My only complaint was the moussaka was hot in places and cool in places. I don't care that it was microwaved..just do it right..:)
Would I go back? yes...but only at an earlier hour.
For the xmas question below..I ate at Shula's and was very unimpressed..very high prices and not as high quality as other steak places..much prefer Chima.
