Chili: It indeed has beans!!!

whm1974 | Feb 1, 202008:41 AM     16

Despite what many Texas may claim, beans have has been part the popular stew famously known as Chili. And always have since the dish was actually invented by the Native Americans who live in the area now known as Texas. The Indians used their traditional farming methods translated as The Three Sisters, which was Maize, Beans, and Squash.

So they would have used the game meat they hunted and not any form of beef. Cattle wasn't even in the Americas until Europeans brought the species with them. Since hunts weren't always successful and they needed to stretch any meats they had, they grew these anyway, they cooked them along with meat and and Chili peppers.

Chili Peppers which of course the dish gotten it's name from is always the centerpiece that without it, Chili can not be called Chili at all .
