I'd had a kick-a$$ Crema Poblano Soup a few times at Cielito Lindo Mexican Gastronomy in East Sacramento.

I went there again recently, taste buds all primed, locked, and loaded, only to find that Poblano Soup was no longer on the menu. Puzzled, but figuring that it was as unlikely that the restaurant stopped serving this delectable winner as it is that the Astros would secure a championship fair and square, I asked the waiter to bring me a bowl of that deliciousness muy pronto, por favor. He sadly and very solicitously informed me that it was no longer possible to slurp that sopa at that restaurante.

I made do with another dish, then went home and proceeded to make several attempts to replicate the memorable experience (but that's another story).

I can't seem to find another joint that serves a high quality chile soup (it doesn't have to be Poblano), but that only speaks to my very limited familiarity with the local Mexican restaurant scene (when you know where the perfect dish is, why go elsewhere?).

I would be giddy with joy if any Chowhounder could point me in the direction of a very good creamy chile soup anywhere between, say, Dixon and Colfax. I'm not talking about tortilla soup, vegetable soups, etc, but specifically a soup that features chile as the main focus.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
