Chico Food Review

Thanks to Chowhounds' recommendations, we had a great food experience in Chico over the weekend.

We started with the Brewery for a late Saturday lunch. Among the four of us we ordered fried calamari, cheeseburger, meatball sandwich, beef quesadillas and fish tacos. I ordered the latter, which turned out to be brand new on the menu. The fish was grilled and perfectly moist. The tacos came with two salsas but didn't really need them (and besides, one of the salsas was laced with cumin, my least favorite spice). My husband said the meatball sandwich was so-so and the woman who ordered the beef quesadillas wasn't too enamoured of her choice. But our friends loved the burger and the calamari. Everyone had beer to drink except me. I tried the vanilla malted shake, which was not too sweet but rich & creamy.

We had dinner at the Nettleton Stadium and were pleasantly surprised. My husband's tri-tip wrap was enormous and too big to finish but he said it was quite tasty. I went for the pulled pork barbecue sandwich. It was excellent too. The stadium itself was a gem - tall trees surround the outfield, a freight train in the background, lovely views. What a great place to see a ballgame!

On Sunday we had a wonderful breakfast at Morning Thunder. My husband had biscuits, sausage patty and eggs while I had spanish rice, fried egg and avocado.

Finally, we went to Smokin' Mo's BBQ for an early dinner. Great food here too. The pulled chicken sandwich was very juicy & tender and the slaw was just right. The only thing that could have been better were the baked beans - too watery.

All in all, a delightful Chico experience. Thanks guys!!
