I just saw a post asking for cream of tomato soup and it brought my mind back to my childhood and what is to this day the number one loved soup in my family. So here's the story.
Every Friday my mother made chicken soup (and about 20 other delicious, high colesterol high taste items). Of course, we all adored the chicken soup--some with lochen (egg noodles) some with rice (me and daddy) some with doohickies (our name for little round pasta balls). My mother ate her's with a dense layer of pepper on the top.
But this is not the soup I am speaking of. We would eat more soup on Saturday and by Sunday there would be about a bowl left--certainly not enough for 6 good eaters. So my mother would produce the wonderful soup we all loved more than chicken. Tomato Rice Soup. My mother poured a large can of Libby's Fancy Grade Tomato juice into the left over chicken soup, mixed together and heated and served with the leftover rice. I liked my with loads of rice and my father used several dollops of his favourite condiment, Worstchester Sauce. Try this treat. I bet you'll love it, just as does the latest member of our family, who got in by way of my niece. Of course, if your chicken soup is not as good as my family's, you will not get the same results.
