Chips come with warm refried beans, a chipotle-style salsa, and a pico de gallo style salsa. So there's a lot going on to start.
The menu is broad including a vegetarian section.
But the sleeper here was the chicken mole. I'm a mole fan, and try to find it at various restaurants. This is my new favorite. It's a traditional black mole, but very complex with a hint of sweetness cut short of becoming cloying by the slight bitterness. The chicken itself is dark meat, very tender and moist. It's served with rice, beans and a very small scoop of potato salad.... and choice of tortillas.
This would be good before the Pantages, Palladium, Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theater or the Fonda.
