I tried the Chick-fil-A at the Irvine Marketplace on Saturday morning.

The place was crazy busy, but there was no pick up counter and no way to know when your order is ready. You have to trust that the person who took your order remembers your face, because they don't seem to care what the order number printed on the receipt happens to be. Even with what I counted were a dozen people behind the register and running around, it took forever for me to get my order. However, there were also an inordinate amount of Chick-fil-A executives there that day. They were making the rounds apologizing to people about how slow the service was and handing out free chicken sandwich coupons to console the crowd. I compiled about 4 free sandwich coupons. But I'll be sure to redeem them during a lull.

On a positive note, the chicken biscuit that I had was surprisingly tasty. The biscuit was warm, fresh and fluffy and the piece of fried chicken breast stuffed inside wasn't dry.

I know that there are branches in other parts of So. Cal, like in CSU Long Beach and Glendale Galleria that has been open for years. I've walked by those branches without a second look, usually dismissing them for cheap mall fast food. So I'm not sure why this Irvine store is attracting so much attention.
