Chicagoans seek uniquely Manhattan recommendations...

Greetings, New York hounds!

I am going to be visiting New York from Thursday, March 4th through mid-afternoon on Sunday, March 7th, with my mom (63 years), aunt (57 years) and sister (40 years). I am a Chicagoan, mom and sis are Chicago suburbanites and my aunt is from Pacific Palisades, California. I absolutely adore New York and my boyfriend and I both dream of eventually living in Brooklyn. Yet, when we visit New York, we simply never stop, running from borough to borough on unlimited subway passes, seemingly spend little time in Manhattan.

I am seeking low to moderate-priced, must-visit places in Manhattan. I already have a requisite DiFara’s visit and perhaps Sunday breakfast/brunch at Downtown Atlantic on the menu, but am in need of Manhattan recommendations. We are staying at 17th and 3rd and I know we will be visiting the tried and true Musette in the morning for coffee and pastry. Also, my sister would like some Katz’s pastrami. Other than that, we are entirely open for any and all coffee, snack, lunch, dinner and dessert recommendations that are uniquely New York for a few first timers. Also, any unique, moderately-priced pre-theater dinner options near the Imperial Theatre at 249 West 45th would be greatly appreciated, too. I want my family to leave New York already planning their return. Thank you all so very much for any assistance!
