Just arrived in town Tuesday, and Pizzeria Uno (and Due!) are right by the hotel. Therefore, I had a late lunch at Pizzeria Uno. It was mid-afternoon, and the place was busy but not too crowded. The server was pleasant. I had the Deep Dish Numero Uno individual pizza and a glass of Pinot Grigio.
I should have just ordered the cheese, because the raw bell peppers and mushrooms on top of the pizza underwhelmed me. There's a pretty thick crust, followed by a layer of cheese, a full patty of sausage, then a big puddle of warm sauce topped by the bell peppers and mushrooms. I ate half of it, and after a little while into it, it did seem to get better. Still, I was longing for the cooked taste and the browned cheese and ingredients on top.
I'm glad I went, and I'm sure the place is terrific. Guess I'm just a thin-crust girl at heart.
Went to Green City Market this morning at Lincoln Park, and that was terrific -- then a late pancake breakfast at Ella's. Naptime and then a cruise this evening. Chicago is terrific!
