Chicago Joes

Just had to post a mini-ode to Chicago Joe's in Las Vegas. Went there last night for the first time in years (thanks to the discussion below on the Golden Steer -- thanks for posting the site with the coupon, Eric!)

It's a small cozy house with an impossibly emerald green lawn in a marginal area near downtown. The first thing that hits you is the smell of garlic...yum! The staff is friendly and wisecracking and there was a Sinatra CD playing. I had cioppino that was absolutely wonderful...chock full of seafood in a sensous, nicely seasoned broth. My starter soup (pasta fagioli) tasted like it had been simmering for hours, but the pasta was still cooked perfectly. My friend had the Chicken Angelo -- chicken breast with artichokes and mushrooms and loved it. Dinner for two with a carafe of house wine was $60 with tip.

I will definitely be going back relatively soon. This is truly a Vegas treasure!
