I will be visiting Houston in March from Fri-Mon to attend the Rodeo (which should be an adventure in and of itself). I will be staying downtown and will need to rely on public transportation, cabs and walking to get around, so judging by what I've seen, this will disqualify several options.
I am most interested in Mexican and BBQ food, but enjoy all cuisines. I have done some research and would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
Fri lunch - Luling City Market (take bus from downtown)
Fri dinner - late dinner after the Rodeo somewhere downtown? (I've read about Sambuca, Gravitas, Liberty Noodles, but haven't been able to determine a consensus choice).
Sat lunch - Goode Co BBQ (take MetroRail)
Sat dinner - somewhere in Rice Village (but again, no consensus choice)
Sun lunch - Pappasitos near Reliant Center (even though it is a chain, it seems to get consistantly high reviews)
Sun dinner - At Rodeo
If there are any can't miss Mexican or BBQ places that I should check out that I could access somewhat easily from downtown without a car, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.
