Chicago w/dog-report & thanks

Dbird | Sep 7, 2002 01:25 AM

Just saw my post of 25-08 had in fact garnered responses, for which I am grateful and offer my recent experience w/thanks. Actually had a very decent tour avec chien, encountered only one cab rejection (first ever, having travelled together in NYC, LA, SF-- maybe it was me?).

Number one best rec is BLACKBIRD, for terrific food and service without regard to table manners (Beulah slurped her complimentary h20 (bowl & saucer) intently and accepted more without thanks); my scallop app and veal chop were terrific, a willakinzie pinot by the glass was a good sole pinot option but seriously overpriced at $14 per.

Not realizing Brasserie Jo had tables al fresco I went alone and sat at the bar. Service was well meaning but uninformed, menu and chef with personality disorder (am I coq au vin or chicken caesar?). They expect a naive diner.

Had a tremendous meal at MK incidentally, but that's not a dog story so I'll save for Chicago board when I have another spare moment.
