Chicago chowhound tends to avoid the Burbs?

Kad | May 29, 200309:59 PM

Chicago chow has 2 categories, Chicago and Midwest. But New York and L.A. has more options to choose from.
Lately I have noticed maybe what we need is another option. How about Suburban chow? Many people write about places in the burbs but they don't get much recognition as places in the city! I have seen Rib,seafood,Hamburgers, steaks, fish Fry's written about in the burbs and the regular chowhounds don't give them any recognition?
I live in the Northwest Burbs and know about Rib joints that could blow away city joints. Gale St. in Diamond Lake. But Carsons is brought up and to me Carsons don't stand a chance!!!!
Fish Fry's I can name some that Chicago places can't come close. Like Eddies in Arlington Hgts. or The Knoll in Mchenry.
I could go on and on and the burbs give Chicago a challenge, so why can't chowhound have a category for the Suburbs?
I am tired of hearing of Beefs in Elmwood Park on North Ave. In Richmond Il. at Mandinos they have great beefs or at Lukes in Arlington Hgts.
I will take pizza at Litle Villa in Des Plaines over most in Chicago, or a Gyros at Nikkos in Arlington Hgts. Gene and Judes hot Dogs? I will take a hot dog at Peeps on Rt.12 anyday.
What I am saying is the midwest needs another category for Food>......
