Tried Chez Papa for the first time last night. It's getting more and more unusual for us to cross the bridge but we wanted to treat friends to a French bistro experience and had had a very pleasant dinner at Florio a few weeks earlier so decided to try something new. We had a 25 minute wait despite reservations- with no where to wait, dinner was rushed to the table and we were constantly bombarded with "dinner is wonderful, no?". Dirty silverware was taken from plates and placed back on the table, plates were taken from diners well before all were finished (a big pet peeve of mine)and the food was mediocre. We had to ask to have water glasses refilled and always refilled our own wine. Even if the food had been outstanding I probably wouldn't go back but there wasn't one dish among 10 (4 people with appetizers, mains and 2 desserts) that I'd return for.
